The Biogas Process Council* annual meeting of this year was organized on 3 September 2019 at Hokkaido University, Sapporo. This year meeting gave opportunities to members to share the experience in implementing biogas projects, particularly some cities in Hokkaido, discuss challenges and opportunities faced by the biogas sector, including the issues related to Feed in Tariff (FIT) and availability of government support schemes to promote biogas.
CCET was one of the special invitees this year meeting. CCET shared its project activities in supporting national and local waste management policies and strategies in developing countries in Asia where biogas is one of the key priority strategies due to the high volume of organic waste. CCET also shared its new activities in developing guidelines on biogas for policy makers in developing countries and its aims to work with Japanese cities and companies who would like to expand their experiences and business opportunities with developing countries.
*The Biogas Process Council
The council was established in October 2002 by biogas business operators, academics, and other stakeholders, with the aim of promoting biogas by sharing best practices and technology information, conducting research/study to solve the issues, and exchange opinions, etc.
