Training Workshop to develop waste management strategy and action plan in Lake Toba region

CCET supported Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Indonesia to organize the workshop to develop provincial and local level waste management strategy and action plan in Lake Toba region on 25 June 2019, inviting North Sumatra provincial government, Medan city and Lake Toba municipalities. As stipulated in the national level waste management strategy, each local government has to submit their own waste management strategy to the government. Especially, Lake Toba region is designated as one of the 10 important tourism areas in the country where proper waste management is strongly required to protect the environment. Through this workshop, the local governments decided/planned to collect data on waste to anticipate the amount of waste generation in Lake Toba region for the baseline of the strategy. CCET will continue supporting the local governments in Lake Toba region to develop their strategy, and also will implement pilot projects in collaboration with Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Indonesia.
