Ministry of Environment (ME), Maldives and CCET jointly organized a Training Workshop for the Saafuraajje Pilot Projects on 19 March 2019, inviting the members of Island Councils and NGOs of five islands selected for pilot project implementation. The event aimed at supporting the islands to develop and implement waste management improvement project in the respective communities. Cases of various approaches from other countries including waste banks in Indonesia and environmental educations in Cambodia were reported, while importance of results based management (RBM) at implementation stage was highlighted. Subsequently, Project Design Matrix (PDM) was developed by the members for the purpose of managing respective projects, with the visible linkage between the projects, island waste management plan, and Regional Waste Management Strategy announced earlier in 2019.
